A stakeholder introduction event was held for ROTAPay, the smart city card developed through the collaboration between DenizBank’s subsidiary DenizPay and the smart city technology brand Asis Elektronik.
With ROTAPay, which transforms the contactless public transportation card into a smart city card, not only transportation needs but also domestic, international, and online expenses can be made; needs such as shopping, cash withdrawals, money transfers, and institutional payments can be met. During the meeting held at Deniz Tower, ROTAPay was introduced to project stakeholders, including municipalities and subsidiaries where it will be expanded, with the participation of DenizBank CEO Hakan Ateş, Asis Elektronik CEO and Board Member Hakan Özyürek, Asis Financial Technologies Executive Board Member Levent Uğurlu, and DenizPay CEO Serkan Turan.
“An important step for the development of financial inclusion”
Hakan Ateş, CEO of DenizBank Financial Services Group, stated in his evaluation on the subject: “As DenizBank, we have considered local governments, which serve the public, as very important since day one. Currently, 831 out of nearly 1,400 municipalities in Turkey are customers of our bank. Now, with our subsidiary DenizPay’s collaboration with Asis Elektronik, we are launching ROTAPay smart city card to serve our municipalities and citizens. We have been an institution that believes in the ecosystem approach since day one. In our collaboration with Asis Elektronik, we combined DenizPay’s experience and service model in electronic money and payment services with Asis’s technological expertise in public transportation. In this way, the closed-loop cards we use in transportation are now transformed into smart city cards and can be used for domestic, international, and online spending with Visa-branded cards. I believe this partnership will also contribute to the development of financial inclusion in our country, and I wish it great success for all parties involved.”
“DenizPay will be a pioneer of the Tech-Fin approach”
Serkan Turan, CEO and Board Member of DenizPay A.Ş., stated in his evaluation that fastPay has been restructured as DenizPay with a new identity and strategy as of October. Turan said, “With the new Service Model Wallet infrastructure, DenizPay aims to offer more inclusive, easy, and competitive experiences and will position itself as a pioneer of the Tech-Fin approach in the fintech market. As the first step of this transformation, the ROTAPay product, developed in collaboration with Asis, will be introduced to users.”
“We are developing smart public transportation technologies for a digital and sustainable urban life”
Hakan Özyürek, Board Member and CEO of Asis Elektronik, emphasized the importance of collaboration for urban development in his speech. Özyürek said, “In an era where more than half of the world’s population lives in cities, and this number continues to rise every day, we are producing smart public transportation technologies for a digital and sustainable urban life with strong partnerships and innovative, technological approaches. With the ROTAPay smart city card, developed in collaboration with DenizBank subsidiary DenizPay, our aim is to ease urban living by changing the passenger experience in public transportation with sustainable systems. With ROTAPay, we take the transportation card a step further, enabling the realization of many functions in smart cities with a single card. This way, we offer users a versatile service on a single platform, from contactless payments in public transport to shopping, money transfers, and financial transactions.”
“We are contributing to financial inclusion and financial literacy”
Levent Uğurlu, Executive Board Member responsible for Asis Financial Technologies, stated in his evaluation, “The ROTAPay platform is built on Asis’s widespread coverage and technological capabilities in public transportation, combined with the e-money infrastructure of DenizBank’s subsidiary DenizPay. With ROTAPay Mobile, we aim to contribute to financial inclusion and financial literacy by offering users access to financial services and features within the app, in addition to the transportation focus. At the same time, we aim to transfer social assistance provided by the municipalities we serve through ROTAPay wallet and open-loop ROTAPay cards; we also prioritize contributing to local trade and businesses by encouraging the use of ROTAPay cards for shopping through budget-friendly campaigns and cashback offers.”
